When we arrived, this full grown (+/- 600 lb) Grizzly Bear is laying on his prize, a full grown bull elk (+/- 700 lb). Other people shared the story with us; a full day before, he had chased some elk from the other side of the river out of the woods, across the street, and singled this one out. He got ahold of the bear and dragged him into the river, pulling him across to this bank and drowning him in the process. To mask the smell from other predators, he carved out the river bank and covered the Elk with soil. What you can see of the Elk is just the head and front left shoulder, the rest of it is covered in soil and entirely by the bear. So amazing!
